Mom is Home

Mother came home last night. She is tolerating her trachea tube and all of her vital signs are good, so they sent her home. We have the usual home care nurses, therapist, nurses aides etc. the next few weeks to help out.

Our plan, after consulting her doctors, is to go downtown to the gamma knife doctor to see if he thinks the tumor in her upper chest can be reduced with the gamma knife. The reason to do this is not to be heroic and go for a cure, but the tumor is in a spot that might grow under the trachea and cut off her air and then we're back to the problem of choking. The gamma knife is usually only two sessions, and if mother can tolerate it, it might be worth the shot to give her a little better quality of life as we go forward. After that, as of now, and thing are always subject to change, we don't plan on doing much else.

We see her doctors next week to get the stitches out, I might know more by then.
